Introduction of Kagla’s SNG system
(SNG vaporizer / Propane-Air mixer)
Necessity of back up system for Natural Gas
Securing a backup line is very important for any type of energy supply.
For example, in the manufacturing industry, if the energy supply is cut off, the production line will be stopped, causing serious damage to corporate activities.
As for electricity, a backup generator is essential to prepare for an unexpected power outage.
In the case of LPG that you store in the tanks or cylinders at your own facility, if you create a bypass line for natural vaporization separately from the vaporizer, you can prevent the problem of gas supply interruption.
Now what if the supply of piped natural gas is cut off?
Solution for Natural Gas supply problem
SNG Vaporizer / mixer / blender is a backup system that protects your business in the event of a natural gas supply problem.
Since the calorific value of natural gas is much lower than that of LPG, ordinary combustion equipment for natural gas cannot be operated with LPG.
The SNG vaporizer solves this problem and makes it possible to operate natural gas equipment using LPG-AIR mixed gas as an alternative fuel.
SNG (Synthetic Natural Gas) is a mixed gas of LPG and air whose combustion characteristics is adjusted very close to that of natural gas, and it substitutes natural gas in case of supply problem.
This product is compactly packaged on a skid that combines an LPG vaporizer with an air mixing device.
By diluting LPG, a mixed gas (SNG) having similar combustion characteristics with that of natural gas is generated and used as an alternative fuel for natural gas equipment.
KAGLA’s SNG vaporizer uses a Venturi type mixing structure that takes in air only when LPG vapor is injected. As this mechanism does not generate mixed gas in the explosion range, it is excellent in safety.
It is often used as a backup facility in areas where the natural gas supply is unstable. Even if a problem occurs in the supply of natural gas, the operation is automatically switched to SNG vaporizer by sensing the pressure drop. And thus you can continue operation without stopping the equipment by consuming SNG.
There are various capacity choices and standard / high pressure models for each.

HOW SNG SYSTEM WORKS : Standard pressure model
Liquid LPG from storage tank is vaporized in a vaporizer’s heat exchanger tube and sent to Open/Close pressure regulator valve.
When mixed gas pressure inside the surge tank drops lower than the set value (0.03MPa), the LPG pressure regulator controls vaporized LPG pressure down to the set value (0.3MPa), and the vaporized LPG is injected into the mixer unit.
In the mixer unit, LPG is injected through mixer nozzle with high velocity, and energy created there makes air taken into the mixer unit through air inlet, and LPG-air mixed gas is produced.
Mixed gas is sent to the surge tank to stabilize the mixed gas. Once the pressure inside the surge tank reaches the set value (0.4MPa), the Open/Close pressure regulator valve closes in order to suspend LPG injection.
The LPG pressure regulator opens once again when the surge tank pressure drops down to a set value (0.03kPa). The LPG pressure regulator repeatedly opens and closes, and the surge tank pressure will be kept in the range between 0.03-0.04MPa.
Air inlet valve opens by the energy of LPG injection. As it opens only when the LPG is injected, the Kagla SNG system never generate mixed gas with a mixing ratio in the explosive range and it can be operated safe and stable.
HOW SNG SYSTEM WORKS : High pressure model
Liquid LPG from storage tank is vaporized in a vaporizer’s heat exchanger and sent to Open/Close pressure regulator valve.
When mixed gas pressure inside the surge tank drops lower than the set value (0.15MPa), the LPG pressure regulator controls vaporized LPG pressure down to the set value (0.3MPa), and the vaporized LPG is injected into the mixer unit.
In the mixer unit, LPG is injected through mixer nozzle with high velocity, and energy created there makes air taken into the mixer unit through air inlet, and LPG-air mixed gas is produced.
Mixed gas is sent to the surge tank to stabilize the mixed gas. Once the pressure inside the surge tank reaches the set value (0.16MPa), the Open/Close pressure regulator valve closes in order to suspend LPG injection.
The LPG pressure regulator opens once again when the surge tank pressure drops down to a set value (0.15MPa). The LPG pressure regulator repeatedly opens and closes, and the surge tank pressure will be kept in the range between 0.15-0.16MPa.
With the high pressure model, it realizes 0.15-0.16MPa mixed gas by taking high pressure air from air compressor.
Air shutoff valve is mounted as a safety device on air supply line. The air shutoff valve opens and closes by directly receiving LPG injection signal so that no air is supplied unless LPG is injected into the mixer unit. Therefore, the Kagla SNG system never generate mixed gas with a mixing ratio in the explosive range and it can be operated safe and stable.
Features
SYNTHETIC NATURAL GAS SUPPLY
- Tentative measurement until natural gas is supplied
At the facility such as a factory that natural gas will be supplied in the future, KAGLA backup mixer can be a tentative measurement until natural gas is supplied.
You can utilize your end furnaces without any changes once natural gas is supplied. - Backing up method for your natural gas supply
When there is the shortage or insufficient pressures of natural gas, KAGLA backup mixer solves these problems - Alternative solution of natural gas
When fuel price fluctuates rapidly and LPG price becomes lower than natural gas, KAGLA backup mixer can be your alternative solution in order to save your fuel cost.
It can also be a cost saving solution depending on the fuel price.
ADVANCED SAFETY MECHANISM
- Float valve with built-in magnet (KAGLA’s Patented Technology) prevents LPG liquid carryover (for 200 / 300 / 500 kg/h models).
**1. See below for its operation principle. - Adapting Venturi method, KAGLA backup mixer does not produce mixed gas within explosive range. (Standard Model)
- WATER LEVEL SWITCH and SAFETY THERMOSTAT prevents over-heating of water bath
USER FRIENDLY INTERFACE
- Multi function electric control panel with digital indicator equipped.
**2. See below for more details
SPACE SAVING COMPACT BODY
- Minimum body size with Maximum Function designed upon long term experience of KAGLA since 1958.
EASY MAINTENANCE STRUCTURE
- Head cover of AX5 is removable for easy maintenance and overhaul.
WIDE RANGE OF SELECTIONS
- 6 different vaporization capacity models from 50kg/hr to 500kg/hr.
(larger models available upon request)
DRAINAGE MEASURE
- Structure designed to minimize drainage to remain inside.
**1. Function of Float Valve (for 200 / 300 / 500 kg/h models)
*This function is controlled by the Float and Magnet only, but not by electricity nor pilot air. Simple and reliable mechanism secures safe operation.
**2. Display on Electric Control Panel

- Operation status of vaporizer can be monitored on the electric control panel from remote place.
- Combination of “lighting on” and “flashing on/off” indications report both the operation status and the cause of the problem.
- When the numbers 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 are displayed, operation of the vaporizer is interrupted.
